Thoughts on WHY ? -
In Memory of Virginia Tech Professor Librescu

- An Editorial

We often ask the question “WHY” and cry out to our God seeking answers and trying to understand the heartache, cruelty and the hardships we observe in the world and especially those we find ourselves personally immersed in.

In times of war, natural disasters or devastation, we ask why was I spared and so many of my peers were slain or lost. Survivors’ guilt is very real. Answers to these questions come slowly, some dramatically. Within the concept of sacrificial love the answer comes slowly - you will not know until the time is right.

You must be tuned in, otherwise you might miss it. I believe this wholeheartedly,

In the Old Testament Jeremiah 29: 11-14 – There is mention that God has a plan for each one of us. In Ecclesiastes it is written that there is a time for all seasons.

In the case of Liviu Librescu, a Holocaust survivor, his actions of sacrificial love, unbeknownst to those he saved by barricading the classroom door last week was such an answer for him and his family. His actions were a result
of his direct personal knowledge of EVIL and the choice he made – he was well tuned in and was placed there to display and give dying proof and a living answer.
Such strength and conviction only comes from a loving God. The greater good. A living demonstration for people to witness, experience and share.

Because he, Professor Librescu, had known evil first hand, he knew what was potentially, at stake. He didn’t hesitate.

He made the ultimate sacrifice to save those he cared for & obviously loved, like another young rabbi – over 2000 years ago.

I am still seeking answers for things in my life. They are slowly being answered through faith and I am being tuned in – These things are not easily seen nor understood until the heart of God is experienced and we act in Faith - like Abraham. – like an obedient child – like a sacrificial lamb.

We are only here for a short time. This is only a dress rehearsal.
